I went through the textures that I knew needed to be resized and did that.
Jar, bottle, bowl, jar, plate and tins all went down to 512 and a few could possibly be lowered to a 256. I am also debating knocking the photo frame down to a 512 as well as the planks. I haven't tested these yet so they have yet to be sorted.
I lowered the bed frame and the doors to 1024, I completely forgot I had put them in at 2048. This freed up 30mb of space in the pack so I don't need to create a new one just yet. however I think I wont be able to get away with having everything in one pack once I create the decals.
Here's how the crates looking. I was worries about it blending in too much but I think now I am having the cupboards look painted it wont blend in as much. I think I will lower this to a 512 too, there's not much reason for it to be a 1024 other than for detail.
The cupboards are coming along nicely. I like that they stand out (which is what I was aiming for) it feels nice to have everything coming together :) I think I may also have the table looking painted just to break it up a bit.
Today I also started writing up my report. I realised I needed to at least have it started and have some form of layout/ headings for Thursday as that's when I go to see my dyslexic tutor. Hopefully this will help me in creating a better overview of the whole project.
I finished off the window wall down stairs, it looks a lot better now :) this area seems to be coming along really well, I really like it. Once I had reimported the textures I created a second asset pack that I will be using for all the objects that currently don't have textures. I realised that once I import the normals and spec it will boost it up quite a bit. The second pack will contain small assets such as the lantern, axe and pots.
After completing the diffuse for the wall I figured id complete the area by creating the lantern texture. I wanted something that wouldn't blend in as much so I decided to go with a blue one that was rusted. I used mudbox to apply the rust to get an even natural feel as I knew I wouldn't be able to do it properly in photoshop alone, especially when it came to creating the rust where the handles meet the base.
I still need to do the cupboards inner shelving before this section is complete but I really like how its looking, I think this area will be one of my beauty shots once the lighting is done. once this area is complete I will move onto the fireplace area and get that textured. I hope to have that done by the end of the week at least. I think I can get the fireplace done in a day if I work on it solidly and I can get the table and chairs done in a day as well as the pots if I don't procrastinate.
